Workgroup MCAD & PLM Integration

Integration of a workgroup MCAD data manager (WCAD) and PLM enables separate, yet integrated management of the work-in-process MCAD data management and the enterprise engineering release and change control process.

A workgroup MCAD & PLM integration enables you to "merge" the data management capabilities of the WCAD system and the engineering release and change control process of the PLM system.  Both systems manage a synchronized set of metadata.  The WCAD system maintains “ownership” of the vaulted MCAD data files.  However, the lifecycle of the MCAD object is managed from the PLM system.

Key Features of a Workgroup MCAD & PLM Integration Include:

• Create (Publish) PLM MCAD objects (from the WCAD system)
• Copy MCAD derived output files to PLM (2D drawings and 3D parts/assemblies)
• Lifecycle promote/demote  of the MCAD objects (from the PLM system)
• Revise a MCAD object (from either the WCAD or PLM system)
• MCAD structure and E-BoM synchronization (from the PLM system)
• Part number fetch from PLM
• Lock & unlock MCAD objects (from either WCAD or PLM)
